Automatic changeover, load calculations and why your air conditioner does not stutter at 3am.
Every hotel in this country will tell you it has a generator. Fewer will tell you what happens in the eleven seconds between the grid going down and the generator picking up, which is the only part guests actually experience.
We run an automatic transfer switch with a battery bridge across the changeover. In practice that means lights, air conditioning and Wi-Fi do not drop — there is no flicker, no reboot of your router, no rebooting mid-call.
The generator is sized for full house load, not partial. That distinction matters at 2pm in March when every room is occupied and every air conditioner is running. A generator sized for 60% of load works beautifully in the dry season and fails in exactly the week you need it.
We also run the fibre line on the protected circuit rather than on the general one, which is why the Wi-Fi survives what the street outside does not. It is a small engineering decision that shows up in about a third of our reviews.
